Name: Urahara Akio
Age: Unknown. Appears to be 15
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Personality: Akio is a very placid being, and always polite, but this is used to hide the fact that he doesn't understand the concept of emotions too well. He has them, he just can't place words to them and doesn't bother to acknowledge them. Oftentimes he veils his frustration with politely phrased sarcasm and blunt comments.
Beyond the politeness, Akio has a few quirks. He goes on a berserker rampage when he encounters a hollow, tends to act without thinking, and has a thinly veiled mischeivous streak. It should also be noted that doesn't feel pain.
Race: Artificial Soul in a custom Gigai
Rank: None--fights at the level of a Shinigami Lieutenant.
Weapon: Two pairs of Baoding Balls, each representing one of the Four Symbols of representing the directions, seasons, and constellations. These are the Azure Dragon, the Vermillion Bird, the White Tiger, and the Black Tortoise.
Ultimately, his skills lie in the constantly changing nature of energy on the planet. He channels his own energy into the two pairs of twin orbs, and uses them to influence the energy around him. Mostly, he uses them as projectile weapons, decoys, or alters the trajectory of another object in motion. And, like a boomerang, they always come back to him.
History: After the entire hogyoku incident that lead to all out war, some members of the Soul Society decided to scour the forgotten laborotories of the 12th division, just in case Kisuke accidentally left any other surprises for them. What they did find was a gigai in the form of a young man in a broken liquid suspension chamber.
They didn't know that the Gigai had a soul.
It woke up, so to speak, and scared the hapless Shinigami out of their uniform, so to speak. The hapless Shinigami reported what they found to Captain General Genryusai, who then decided to see what all the being could do.
When it spoke, when it showed some form of sentience, it was decided that it should be named Akio, surname Urahara because they had surmised that he had been an early attempt at a place to hide the hogyoku. However, it was decided that he wasn't to be a Shinigami himself because there were too many unknowns about him, his curcumstances, and his possible actions.
Even though it was deemed he would never be a Shinigami, the Soul Society still found a way to use him. He is their lookout in Karakura, and is to report anything odd he sees immediately to the Soul Society.
It just seems fitting that he is the only full time staff member of the current incarnation of the Urahara Shoten. Also, because it was one of the few things he ever wanted.
